Dr. Verderame joined our practice after graduating from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. She has special interests in surgery and exotic animal medicine. Outside of work she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband kayaking, fishing and going to the beach. They have three pets, Hank and Sam the dogs,and Finnegan the cat.
Dr. Weston Betts
Dr. Weston Betts graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 and joined our practice after graduation. He enjoys being outdoors with his wife and daughter backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking and fishing. They often hike with their retired racing greyhound, Toast, beagle mix, Maeby and rescued pit mix Bea. They also have two cats, Teddy and Buttin.
Dr. Christina Long
Dr. Long is a 2005 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She joined our practice in 2018 and has a special interest in dentistry,ultrasound, dermatology, and Fear Free Veterinary Care. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband on the boat, horseback riding, and tending to her farm. Her family includes an amazing great dane named Senta, a feisty jack russell named Dixie, two draft horses, two mini horses, chickens, geese, a duck and a rabbit!
Dr. Edith Verloop
Dr. Verloop graduated from Virginia-Maryland Regional College for Veterinary Medicine in 1991. She has been practicing in Virginia since 2005, after starting out in Ohio. In her spare time she enjoys horseback riding and crafting. She recently moved to the Gloucester area and joined the Animal Care of Gloucester practice in October 2019. She brings with her eleven animals: two horses, one goat, a black swan, a goose, two ducks, a parrot, a cat, and Comma & Sara her dogs.
Katie Beth Smith
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Katie earned her AAS in Veterinary Technologies at Blue Ridge Community College in 2003. She joined our team in 2014. She enjoys spending her time with her husband, daughter and their cat.
Alley started shadowing at Animal Care of Gloucester in January 2017, she joined the staff October 2018. She is currently attending Christopher Newport University pursuing a degree in integrative biology and a minor in psychology. After graduating C.N.U. she plans to attend vet school. In her spare time she volunteers at Gloucester Mathews Humane Society and the Virginia Living Museum. For fun she enjoys taking her new puppies, Faith and Ember, hiking and on long walks.
Destiny started at Animal Care of Gloucester in June 2019. She has four years of veterinary experience and is currently pursuing a degree in Veterinary Technology. Originally from West Virginia, she moved here with her husband in 2017. In her free time she enjoys crafting and spending time with her son.
Lindsay joined the practice in March 2016 . She has taken a special interest in planning all of the clinics special events, including our annual Raise the Woof Open House. As well as our participation in the Daffodil Festival and Clean Gloucester Day. While not at work she enjoys traveling with her husband and young son.
Melissa joined our team for the second time in May 2017. She has worked with animals for nine years. Outside of work, Melissa enjoys going camping with her family and friends. She also enjoys spending time with her two cats, Major and Felix.
Our “all over lady”-started with the practice in February of 2001 as a veterinary assistant, moving to reception in 2007. Cindy loves working with people and pets. In her spare time, she enjoys evenings on the deck with her husband Aron and her son Ashton. Cindy also spends free time after work with her dog Jada and cat Debo and enjoys baking delicious goodies!
Racheal began working at A.C.G. in September 2016. She has been working in the veterinary field for the past ten years. Racheal enjoys spending time at the beach with her two children, Mackenzie and Austin. She also enjoys spending time with her three cats; Blossom, Josie and Mia.
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Jess joined our team at Animal Care of Gloucester in January 2019. She received her A.A.S. in Veterinary Technology at Blue Ridge Community College in 2017. In her free time, she likes to be with family and spend time outdoors. Her pets include a lab mix named Hazel, a special shih tzu named Lucy, three cats named Nora, Emmett, and Avery, and a hedgehog named Elliot.
Christina has 12 years experience in the veterinary field, she joined the Animal Care of Gloucester team in June 2017. Her favorite pastime is horseback riding. She also enjoys spending time with her dogs and cat; Ozzie, Reese, and Yoda.
Karagan joined the Animal Care of Gloucester team November of 2018 as a grooming assistant. Karagan has three dogs: Cam, Wayland, Eeyore. Outside of work she enjoys taking her dogs for walks, reading, and playing field hockey.
Angela started her interest in veterinary medicine while in high school, she took a veterinary assistant course. She joined the Animal Care of Gloucester team in December 2018. Outside of work Angela enjoys spending time with her husband and her daughter. She greatly enjoys equestrian activities with her four horses. Other than her four horses, Angela stays busy keeping up with her two dogs, eighteen chickens, and one goat.
Heather began working in the veterinary field in 1998 as her first job in Northern Virginia. She eventually moved to Gloucester and has been part of the Animal Care of Gloucester team since 2011. She likes to spend her free time with her 2 kids, enjoying all that the “small town” has to offer, and playing with her 3 furry four-legged kids as well.
Dana is a graduate of VCU School of the Arts and has many years of experience in the veterinary field. Her passion for animal care is evident with the joy she brings to both her positions her at ACG as a part-time Groomer and Receptionist. She feels this is the perfect way to combine her artistic ability with her love for animals. She is a full time wife and mother of two little girls, Anna and Stella. She also loves her dogs, Randall and Merle, and three cats Kittilly, Delia and Bittilly.
Courtney joined the Animal Care of Gloucester team after shadowing with us for her senior boards project in 2018. She completed a grooming certification program through Penn Foster in May 2020. When she’s not at work she enjoys spending time at the beach with friends, as well as hanging out with her 2 cats.
